Writing With AI Without Sounding Like AI

Practical techniques to keep human voice in AI-assisted writing — and the ethical lines every writer should know.

By AiClubb Team

"AI-sounding" text has tells: overused transitions, perfectly balanced sentences, and a suspicious absence of personality. The fix starts in the prompt.

Feed the model your own writing as few-shot examples. Three samples of your voice outperform any description of it. Ask for short sentences, your vocabulary, and your cadence.

Add the "so what" and "why now" elements in your prompt — these are where human perspective lives. Draft with AI, then rewrite the intro, the examples, and the conclusion yourself.

Read the output aloud. Anything that does not sound like you gets rewritten. Editing is where the human contribution happens.

Ethically: disclose AI assistance where your context requires it, verify every fact, and never present AI output as your own original analysis in academic settings. The value you add is judgment, not typing.

Remember the goal: AI is a thinking partner, not an identity. The best AI-assisted writing is unmistakably human.
